The LexUM team combines knowledge and expertise in law, computer science and information science as well as many years of experience in legal publishing, document management and computer engineering.

Daniel Poulin - Director

Daniel Poulin founded LexUM in the 1990's and oversees and manages the team since then. Daniel is a professor at the Law Faculty where he teaches cyberspace law. In May 2005, he is appointed LexUM Chair in legal technology by the University of Montreal Board. Daniel Poulin is the author of various articles relating to law and technology, free access to law and other related matters such as e-filing. In addition to his academic activities, he manages the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII), the leading open access to legal information resource in Canada that he created with the Federation of law societies of Canada in 2000. Daniel is a member of the Judges Technology Advisory Committee (JTAC) of the Canadian Judicial Council. He established the Canadian Citation Committee in 1997 and is still member of the committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice. Daniel Poulin is an alumni and lead all his academic career at University of Montreal.

Ivan Mokanov

Ivan Mokanov - Deputy director

Ivan Mokanov is Deputy Director of LexUM. He oversees LexUM's publishing and development activities and supervises various consulting and research projects in Canada and abroad. As a member of LexUM's Executive Committee, he participates in LexUM's administration and business development. Ivan is a graduate from Sofia University (B.C.L.), the University of Montreal (LL.M.) and he is currently enrolled at HEC Montreal (M.B.A).

Marc-André Morissette

Marc-André Morissette - Chief analyst

Marc-André Morissette is Chief Analyst at LexUM. He plans and supervises software development for all LexUM projects. He is responsible for development and maintenance of systems, standards and norms and for the technical infrastructure. As a member of LexUM's Executive Committee, he participates in LexUM's administration and business development. Marc-André is a graduate from University of Montreal in Computer Science (B.Sc.)

Pierre-Paul Lemyre

Pierre-Paul Lemyre - Products and Business Development

Pierre-Paul Lemyre oversees the development of new products and their marketing. He interacts on a regular basis with all of LexUM's clients and contributes to the design of specialized solutions in order to meet their needs. Pierre-Paul is highly interested in the challenges that lasting development poses, as well as in the existing links between access to legal material and a fair and efficient justice system. He is also recognized as an expert on legal issues related to free and open source software.

Frédéric Pelletier

Frédéric Pelletier - CanLII Chief Editor

Member of the Quebec Bar since 2002, Frédéric oversees all of the editorial operations of CanLII. In addition to his editorial work for CanLII, he is coordinator of the Canadian Citation Committee and act as a consultant with the Canadian Judicial Council's Judges Technology Advisory Committee. He also carries out research on issues related to public access to court records.

Robin Aubut-Fréchette - Associate editor

Specialized in Criminal Law, Robin Aubut-Friéchette is a graduate of University of Sherbrooke in Law (B.Sc.) and was called to the Quebec Bar in 2006. At LexUM, he works as an editor for the CanLII project. He is also involved in other development initiatives. Robin is currently enrolled at the LL.M. in Law en Technology at University of Montreal.
